MORE ABOUT 'MONTHA'
Conceived with comfort and style to the forefront, Montha's distinctive upper deck sets her apart from other boats on the river. The lounge and dining areas, designed like a garden pavilion with light ornate balustrade, afford uninterrupted views of the river. The decorative teak ceiling features a traditional ceiling fan to supplement the river breezes, adding to the tropical Old World atmosphere.
When required, closing the discreet but extensive windows reveals the lounge-dining area to be in fact a glass walled room. This unique feature of 'Montha' not only protects guests from occasional nuisance insects but also allows the modern air-conditioning system to provide comfortable climate control during the monsoon season, (July to October), which brings high humidity and brief periods of torrential rainsqualls. Cane furniture and carefully selected drapes complement the decor, giving an intimate homely atmosphere. Digital satellite television, 5.1 surround sound DVD and an excellent 'Bose' sound system are provided to enhance your personal enjoyment. Specially commissioned, hand-painted crockery, subtle lighting and exotic scenery makes this the most comfortable and elegant living or entertaining venue on the river.
Sliding glass doors provide access to the Open Front Deck; this area is protected from sun and rain whilst allowing close contact with the life along the river and its ever changing scenery. Here is a restful spot to enjoy breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails, or simply to laze and watch the passing parade. For special occasions, silk drapes adorn the deck's pillars, and the area takes on the impression of an Ayutthaya period pavilion; making an impressive focal point to welcome your guests on board.
A modern Western styled kitchen located on the mezzanine deck, towards the vessel's stern, caters for a wide variety of cuisines. Menus can be arranged to suit individual dining requirements. Mindful that although visitors delight in Thai cuisine, sometimes a Western meal is appreciated; a Christmas goose, Thanksgiving turkey, or perhaps just a simple roast dinner. In addition, our kitchen can prepare home-made pizzas, and freshly baked bread; not to mention a full selection of traditional Thai dishes and other international cuisine.
The aft deck provides a peaceful out of the way spot where a guest can read a book, drop a fishing line over the stern, or simply enjoy an icy beverage whilst watching Montha's wake disappear into the distance.
A wide gently sloping staircase leads below decks to the air-conditioned saloon. Here leadlight windows and more solid golden teak panelling greet the guest. In addition the walls and doors have panels intricately hand carved in a French colonial pattern which the Thais call 'Louis Style'. This cabin serves as a multi-function room, which can be configured as a sitting room, extra sleeping accommodation or an office. The room can be provided with a convertible divan, children's bunks, or office furniture, to suit the guests' requirements. Likewise the storage area can be arranged as a computer station, wardrobe, or stationery cupboard.
Opening off this room is a bathroom with shower, hand basin, toilet, hair drier and international shaver outlet.
Forward of the saloon, the main stateroom continues the same teak decor, with the panels reflecting the original barge construction. This spacious room features a king size bed, separate bathroom and elliptical windows that frame the river views. Remote control air-conditioning, generous cupboards, telephones, digital satellite television, 5.1 surround sound DVD, and a safety deposit box, exceed the facilities that would be expected in a five star hotel suite.
